Flamingo Specimen



Flamingos are a type of wading bird classified in the in the Class Aves of the Phylum Chordata. These are placed in the order Phoenicopteriformes. They belong to the genus Phoenicopterus which is the only genus in the family Phoenicopteridae. There are 6 species of this genus.
Flamingos often stand on one leg, the other leg tucked beneath the body. It is suggested that this help them to conserve body heat.

It is a tree-dwelling animals that have a unique property that it can jump from one tree to another by gliding. It glide with the help of a flap of skin present between its anterior and posterior appendages.
These are nocturnal animals with highly developed sense of smell and feed upon nuts, fruits and bird eggs.

A Specimen of Pangolin



Pangolin, also called, scaly anteater is a unique animal that feed mainly on ants. Its small and thin snout help it to dig the ant holes. When lots of ants comes out of their holes, it opens its body scales which consist of keratin - a protein. Ants attack on it and cover the body and it closes its scale to capture these. Later on, it opens the scales to eat ants on its ease. They also feed upon termites.
Pangolin belong to the the Class Mammalia and order Pholidota. It is found in Afria and Asia. It is hunted for its meat and scales. It is included in the IUCN threatened animal's list.
